For the accounting period, the Committee has scrutinized 156 issues, 16 of which appertain to the control over implementation of the laws and resolutions.
The Committee members drafted new versions of the following Laws: "On the Prosecutor´s Office", "On Private Detective Activity", "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (re Enhancement of Structure and Operation of the Tax Police, and Social Protection of its Personnel), "On Circulation of Non-Military Weapon". The Committee set up Working Groups to draft new versions of the Laws "On the Police", "On Service in the Internal Affairs Bodies", "On Investigation and Search Operations".
The People´s Deputies devoted special attention to the elaboration of the Bill on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding regulation of relations in the field of traffic safety. The Bill enhances liability for violation of traffic regulations, and raises the rate of penalties.
The Committee studied the reports concerning legislative support of activity of the law enforcement agencies. The Committee held the hearings on the following subjects: "On a Draft Version of a new Law "On the Prosecutor´s Office"; "Enhancement of the National Legislation in the Field of Juvenile Delinquency within the Scope of its Coordination with International Standards and Regulations (re Legislative Support of Probation in Ukraine)". The Committee also held a Round Table "Implementation of the State Policy in the Field of Human Trafficking Counteraction: Conditions, Problems, Prospects". The guidelines of the Hearings and the Round Table were forwarded to the Cabinet of Ministers, law enforcement agencies and other public authority bodies.
The Committee analyzed the experience of applying effective legislation in the activity of the law enforcement agencies. Therefore, the Committee deems necessary to secure permanent and efficient control over compliance of subordinate legislation with the laws, timeliness of their adoption, and enhancement of parliamentary control over realization of the Laws "On Prosecutor´s Office", On the Police", "On Investigation and Search Operation", "On the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine".
The Committee is to scrutinize 39 Bills in the inter-session period.
